Game writeup Week 3 Vs. Awkward Mornings (forfeit)

Sotally Tober Still Undefeated in Full, Legitimate Games

In other news, the number of full, legitimate games Sotally Tober has been in holds steady at 1.

Everybody’s favorite team, Sotally Tober, played a solid game on Tuesday night. The effort saw Dr. Lim return from his exhibition games in the West Virginia overhand bowling league and it showed strong defense and offense from many of the ST players. Although the scoreboard didn’t show it, Sotally Tober Probably played its best game this week.

The game started on time and Sotally Tober got up to kick first. Dr. Lim went up and put a devastating boot to the ball sending it into dead space just out of reach of the catcher, pitcher and third baseman alike. Some call this a “man bunt” with disdain, we call it Runner on second with no outs. Mr. “The Senator” Anderson was up next and put good leather onto the ball somehow beating the throw to first base. “Door” Matt came up and worked the count with blistering foul balls down the first baseline before kicking one fair and somehow getting out. Then, Lt. “Sea Bass “, the clean up kicker came up and put a giant kick into the troposphere just like in practice, it was caught, but then again, that’s what’s supposed to happen with a sacrifice fly. What is not supposed to happen is the runner who is supposed to advance gets too far off base to tag up and is thrown out. We’ll excuse Dr. Lim for his wrongheadedness because he pitched a good game and stayed late to umpire the next match.

At this point, Sotally Tober took the field and was promptly disqualified because there weren’t enough ladies present. Boo. How does this happen on a team that just 2 short seasons ago was 97% female? Nobody knows, but if you wear forest green and have no y chromosomes and weren’t at Marie Reed on Tuesday night, I hope he was worth it.

Big shouts to the unnamed ref from OIP, he called a good game and was very fair. And to Troy, the Captain from Awkward Mornings an all around decent fellow.

Despite the forfeit, we continued to play, and it was fun. Now for the Props list from the actual gameplay.

Props to Mindy, Julie, and Jessie for adding a much needed feminine touch to the Sotally Tober crew this week. Teen, Mad ups for coming out to cheer as well.

Sea Bass, earns kudos for a mad awesome catch at first, and for a bullseye throw to peg Troy out a mere 23 inches from scoring a run

Dr. Lim is formally recognized for pitching a good game, reffing afterwards and an amazing peg out at second base when all hope was lost. At least one of those accomplishments whould cancel out the awful baserunning error in the first.

Prashanth can take mad pride in his, I won’t man bunt, kick it sure was pretty. P

Louis, the few ladies who made it to the game really admired your hightop converse sneakers. Nobody can take that away from you.

“Door” Matt did some fine work at the plate, stalling for time until the ladies could show up.

Sotally Tober’s Disabled List for week 3

Sea Bass – Jammed Heel
The Noble One – “Ball Rash”
The ladies – severe ass chompin’ (except for Julie, Jessie Teen and Mindy… unless you’re in to that kind of thing.)

Week 3 game 6:30 Vs. Awkward Mornings

I ain’t gonna lie to you, It’s gonna be a tough week. We play the early game and if you’re employed, it might be tough to get to the field by 6:30, depending on where you work and live.

We’ll be playing Awkward Mornings. These guys were the Refs for our game last week and are high strung dicks. I hate to make generalizations like that, but they had some hyperactive dickheaded guys on their team and that’s what I remember from reffing their game. I’m sure 80% of their team is made up of nice folks, but the vocal 20% are what I remember.

They’re a good team and play with solid strategy and defense. We’ll have to keep our heads in the game to beat them, but they’re not too much better than we are.

Since we have at least 5 people who are going to be doing a triathlon on Sunday, I am not expecting much from them. I know I strained my back last Tuesday and I think Kickball played a part in that injury. These people have been training since before Halloween for this race and I’m certain they don’t want to be taken out the week before by a school yard game. That said, We’ll be there and play if necessary. However, I’m not going to be pitching.

Ryan Lim, a veteran of the Sotally Tober Machine will be rejoining us after completing his bowling season. He’s volunteered to be our pitcher for the game, and hopefull the similarity between bowling and kickball pitching will lead to confusion at the plate for the Awkward Mornings crew.

I’ll be coaching from the sidelines for the most part, so we’ll have some leadership this week, and hopefully that will make a huge difference and we’ll come out at 2 – 1.

The best thing about the 6:30 game is that you get to the bar before 7:30 and there’s plenty of space and you can get a bite to eat and you can move around and you can get several games of flippy cup in before it becomes a battle in the Mill.

Comment below and let us know if you can make it tomorrow.
